Dogs & Equine Accommodation
Horses
We can offer grass-only or stabled accommodation for visiting horses at a charge of £10 per night. We are 10 minutes from Exmoor and 20 minutes from beach riding. Bring your horse and holiday together!!
In stables, miscanthus bedding is provided. A clean (possibly previously used) bed will be available on arrival – further bales are available at cost price and owners are asked to leave the beds clean and up on departure. Mucking out, provision of hard feed and all stable management /handling is the responsibility of the owner. Hay can be provided at cost price per bale or owners may bring their own supply. Owners are asked to discuss routines on arrival to ensure the smooth running of the yard and to kindly bring their horse’s passport to confirm present vaccination status (we have no objection either way but keep records for the benefit of all visiting owners in case of subsequent problems).
Trailer/lorry parking is available as per car parking (see “How to find us”), or trailers may be parked in the field (separate entrance from road - 100 yards walk from main gate and yard).
Dogs
We are happy to accept well behaved visiting dogs on the property within the guests’ garden and in our fields for exercise purposes. We regret that for the comfort of other and subsequent guests, dogs (except Guide Dogs) are not permitted in the house, and will be asked to sleep overnight in their owner’s car. We hope to be able to provide very comfortable kennelling arrangements soon - please enquire about this.
Guests are asked to note that we have our own dogs at Sheltercombe. It is highly probable that all the dogs will meet and play together, and we look to visiting dogs to be comfortable in such surroundings.
Guests are expected to clear up after their dogs in the garden.
